Excited and eager, Loop’s first group of participants began their industrial sewing training in February and have continued to develop their skills and confidence through March. Loop has always provided in-house sewing training on domestic machines, equipping participants with essential skills and experience. This group, however, marks a significant milestone as the first that Loop has sent out for external industrial sewing training.
Through our internal training program, these participants have already demonstrated their ability, confidence, and commitment. Now, with industrial training, they are taking their skills to the next level.
There are so many benefits of learning to sew on industrial sewing machines. Participants have the opportunity to apply their existing knowledge of sewing and textiles, as well as learning new techniques and machinery. These skills will enable them to sew more complex products, a wider variety of textiles, and improve efficiency in their work for Loop.
Other benefits include learning in a new industrial setting, adapting to a new environment and equipping themselves with the skills to be able to work in industrial manufacturing if they choose to do so. With a current shortage of local industrial machinists, this program will also help to strengthen our local workforce as the participants progress in their careers.
“We’re thrilled to see our participants begin industrial sewing training at TAFE, thanks to generous funding from the Department of Communities ‘Women’s Grants for a Stronger Future Grants Program.’ They’re learning valuable skills that will enhance their work at Loop and open doors to future employment opportunities.” – Sarah Brown, Loop General Manager
Not only are our participants learning practical skills, we can see the positive impact of the industrial training for their confidence, team-work and overall wellbeing, with a sense of achievement from their progress.
Without this funding, we would not have been able to provide this opportunity to our participants. Every donation goes towards providing essential equipment and providing training for our participants, so they can continue to learn and build on their skillset.
If you would like to sponsor the next group of participant Industrial Sewing Training or essential sewing equipment to apply their new skills, please contact Sarah, our General Manager: sarah@loop.org.au.
